Family Fun Day, PolskaÉire Festival 2019 in Gorey – the relation of the event

Jul 12, 2019

Family Fun Day is an event, which is an inherent part of PolskÉire Festival in Gorey and is an interesting attraction of the festival bringing people together. This year the Fun Day took place again at Civic Square, as the city park goes through vital modernisation. As in the previous years the forecast was not optimistic, but the nature decided to surprise us, and the weather was kind to us. All day long, the live music was echoing on the Civic Square performed by MLC-Mid Life Crisis, LOS WEXICANOS, The Vinyl Fridays and Noel Dunbar. The attraction of the event was a performance of our visitors from Puck District in Poland, Kashubian musicians Krzysztof Korthals with son Filip.

The official part of the event was speech given by the Mayor of the Puck District – Tadusz Puszkarczuk, visiting Gorey and being invited by the local government of Gorey Municipal District, and speech given by councillor Anthony Donohoe – the host representing local government. Representatives of both local governments declared that the partnership would be continued and developed in the future. Possibly, as a result of the partnership a student exchange between the Districts will take place.

After the official part of the Family Fun Day, a board was unveiled, which represents “400 reasons to love Gorey” project. We are proud that in this way we could join the 400th anniversary of granting city rights to Gorey.

The festival is a family event thus kids and parents could enjoy a lot of attraction prepared especially for kids.

Nutty Scientists brought a lot of attention of kids as the performance mix elements of science with fun.

The offer of market stalls was also rich and varied.

A soldier in the uniform of the Polish Army from the Polish Reconstructive Group brought interest of people gathered at the festival.

A team of one of our main festival sponsors “A Taste of Poland” took care of the culinary experience, among other main sponsors. This year’s novelty was a stand with pancakes.

As in the previous years, the festival ended with a lottery draw with interesting prizes.

Thank you to all who have decided to spend this day with us – Team Gorey.pl
