Jun 30, 2022

On June 9, the opening ceremony of the PolskaÉire Festival in Gorey 2022 was held in the Gorey library. The 6th edition of Polish-Irish friendship festival returned after a 2-year pandemic break. The whole ceremony was conducted by Ola Riquet. The guests were greeted by the chairman of the Gorey.pl association, Karol Dettlaff, and then the Festival was officially launched by Mrs. Anna Sochańska, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Ireland. The chairman of Gorey Kilmuckridge Municipal District, Pip Breen, spoke on behalf of the local authorities.

The official part was completed by the photographer Ryszard Tatomir, who explained the background behind the creation of his photographs from Wieliczka Salt Mine.

The musical setting of the event was provided by the extraordinary duo “Éire agus Chulainn”, who took us into the world of Celtic ballads.

After the official celebrations, a banquet with Polish delicacies took place. We would like to thank Ms Anna Waszkowska for preparation and a beautiful presentation for said delicacies.

Sandwiched, tea/coffee and wine was served by Michael from the “Loch Garman Arms” for which we are grateful.

Natalia Riquet and Karol Płatek presented traditional costumes from Krakow region on the day.

We would like to thank everyone who came to the inauguration of the festival and to the exhibition.
