PolskaÉire Festival 2019 in Gorey, Irish-Polish Folk Night
The Irish-Polish Folk Night is a musical return to our musical roots, which will be an opportunity to strengthen Irish-Polish ties through music, both traditional and folk music.
There are special guests to perform for us on the day:
Krzysztof Korthals with his son Filip – musicians from the Puck district in Kashubia in Poland. In their repertoire, they have Kashubian songs and tales and curiosities, elements of tradition related to Kashubia. Krzysztof Korthals and his son are entertaining holiday-makers visiting the Puck Land in the summer season every year. They also cultivate and present the Kashubian culture at the “Green Schools” for children. Our folk evening will be full of traditional songs as well as folk songs, which are an inseparable element of many family events, weddings or feasts such as: Kaszëbsczé jezora, Szła dzieweczka do laseczka or Hej Sokoły.
The Mahon School of Irish Dance was founded 38 years ago and the name of the school is in memory of Josephine’s father Martin Mahon. The school has produced Leinster, All Ireland, European, British and World Champion dancers. They performed in Disney Paris and Disney Orlando and were also part of The Riverdance longest line. Josephine’s daughter Sarah Mai who is professional dancer with shows such as Ragus, Rhythm of the Dance, Riverdance and Irish Celtic is now also teaching in the school. The aim is to teach Irish dance in fun and happy family environment.
The Circle of Magical White Song (Krąg Magicznej Białej Pieśni) is a group of people passionate about traditional Polish (and also Irish) music that was created in 2017. More details:
Boolavogue Rebels – Padraig Sinnott with his wife Brigid Sinnott and friends – group of musicians from Wexford. They are playing on traditional Irish instruments – tin whistle, accordion, uilleann pipes, bodhrán and gituar. They are performing in the pubs and on the festivals. Their also performed abroad, mainly in USA.
